What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a specialized form of counseling that uses play to help children express feelings, work through challenges, and develop healthier ways of coping. Because children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling, play provides a safe and natural way for them to communicate.

M.E.N.D. Center’s Approach

At M.E.N.D. Center, play therapy is the primary mode of treatment used in working with children. Care is tailored to each child’s unique needs, strengths, and developmental level. Some parts of treatment may be more child-led, while others may be more structured and skill-focused, depending on what will best support the child’s growth. Other evidence-based and developmentally appropriate approaches may also be incorporated as needed.
